Decorative rock is the right choice in areas where you want permanent ground cover with zero ongoing maintenance – around AC condenser units, utility areas, slopes that erode with mulch, and drought-tolerant plant beds. Unlike mulch, rock doesn’t break down, blow away in storms, or need annual replacement.

We install rock correctly: commercial-grade weed barrier laid first, rock at the right depth, and proper edging to keep it contained.

What’s included

River Rock

Smooth, rounded river rock in various sizes. Natural look that works well with native plantings and coastal landscapes.

Lava Rock

Lightweight and porous, lava rock is excellent around tropical plants – it drains quickly and does not compact.

Florida Shell

Crushed shell is a classic Florida look – bright, coastal, and highly reflective. Works well for driveways and paths.

Pea Gravel

Fine gravel for pathways, patio borders, and utility areas. Compacts slightly for a stable walking surface.

Weed Barrier Install

Heavy commercial-grade landscape fabric properly cut around plants before rock placement. Critical for long-term weed suppression.

Rock Removal & Replacement

Removing old rock installations, cleaning up underlying fabric, and installing a fresh system with updated material.

FAQ

Common questions

Is decorative rock better than mulch in Florida?+

Depends on the application. Rock is better in utility zones, around AC units, on slopes that lose mulch in heavy rain, and in areas with xeriscape plantings. Mulch is better around most ornamental plants.

How much does decorative rock installation cost?+

Rock installation typically runs $4-$8 per square foot including material, weed fabric, and labor.

Will weeds still grow through rock?+

With proper weed barrier installation, weed growth is minimal. Some wind-blown seeds will germinate on top of the rock surface – occasional hand-pulling is normal.

How deep should decorative rock be installed?+

3 to 4 inches is the standard for effective weed suppression and a finished look.

Can decorative rock be used on sloped areas?+

Yes – rock is often the better choice over mulch on slopes because it doesn’t wash away in heavy Florida rains. Larger rock (2-3 inch) works best on slopes.
